Helmer, Inc.
Major Objectives
Helmer Inc. desired to update the look of their site and to find better ways to show and get quotes on their many products. They wanted a site that they would be able to update and maintain themselves without programming. The other major architectural challenge for the site was the fact that depending on where in the world the customer is located, Helmer, Inc. goes to market in two different ways with slightly different product sets.
Domestic and Global Markets
Customers outside the US or Canada can purchase Helmer, Inc. products via distributors. ServerSide, Inc. used the taxonomy functions of CMS400 to display a link to the Distributor Finder application on those International product pages. Visitors who navigate through the US or Canadian menus see the 800 number in that spot. Furthermore, in the end product pages, for US and Canadian visitors the Quote Cart choices display where on the international versions of those product pages they do not.
The Quote Cart: Two Types of Visitors
Helmer, Inc. sought to have a robust quote system (for US and Canadian customers) that would support multiple quoting scenarios and allow the sales department to easily follow up on leads. ServerSide, Inc. worked with Helmer, Inc. to develop a full featured quote cart system. This quote cart system lets visitors add multiple items in different quantities from different starting points. If a visitor is new to Helmer, Inc. they can navigate through a product menu system that follows a natural decision tree format to the family of products and then the exact product. The visitor can then choose either to add the item to the quote cart and continue browsing or they can go to the quote cart for “check out”. If a user is already a Helmer customer and is seeking a specific quote for other Helmer products, they can go directly to the Quote Cart and add products from there.
